Welcome to Other Mothers!
Other Mothers is a Substack newsletter for anyone who's ever wondered how other mothers make it all work.
I’m Dr. Nina Kaiser— a licensed psychologist (CA 22555), mom of two boys (currently ages 5 and 8), and founder of Practice San Francisco, a Bay Area mental health and wellness center for kids, teens, and parents. I am completely obsessed with all things parenthood and I LOVE hearing about amazing things other mothers are doing— and diving into all the nitty gritty details about how other moms make things work.
This Substack goes out to all the other mothers out there who are also existing at the intersection of parenthood and ambition— trying to show up as good parents and simultaneously to also do something cool, creative, and important in the world (above and beyond parenthood!). I know that there’s an entire community of us, and I want Other Mothers to be a resource and a community that can help every single one of us better cope with the constant juggle— and support us all in parenting and working from a place of less stress, less struggle, more inspiration, and more community.
So…. what can you expect here?
For paid subscribers:
Monthly interviews (more frequently, if I’m on top of things!) with all kinds of moms, doing all kinds of interesting things— including what lights them up, daily schedules and routines, life hacks and pro tips, and the places that they are choosing to say no or drop the ball. (Because I know I’m not the only mom curious about how other moms make things work.)
Occasional short posts from me directly. These probably will be a mishmash of random thoughts about parenting and/or the work-life juggle, shout-outs or Cliffs Notes versions of interesting parenting-related books or podcasts, a meme or two (no such thing as too many parenting memes! 😆), or even a recipe link here or there.
For all subscribers (paid and unpaid):
Every week or two, I’ll put together a short blast of interesting, research-based parenting-related news or article links— along with the TL:DR take home messages (because hello, we’re parents).
Occasional shout-outs to women and/or mom-founded businesses that are worth supporting. Shopping is activism— we have the power to support the kinds of businesses we want to see thrive. And there are so many moms doing so many interesting and cool things who deserve our support!
Happy to have each and every one of you here!
